1.0 Released!
After months of development, the 1.0.0 version of Janna Game has released!
I'm so happy to have finally arrived at this point, I didn't think I'd make it this far to be honest.
There are many changes and additions, but the most important one is the new save system. This addition means that the old saves will no longer work with the saves that existed in previous versions. I'm sorry but that is an unfortunate consequence of this new system.
However there are many more changes and additions that I'm sure you will find most exciting, a full changelog is included under this post and inside the zip file when you download the game.
I do have some ideas for the game, and I will probably add some more content to it, but I feel like at this point the game has all the systems and features I'd like it to have to consider it completed.
Now the promised changelog:
[Misc Changes]
- Updated to Godot 4.3.
- The game can now be paused.
- Added support for multiple saves. (All previous saves will be incompatible, but if you know what you're doing you can copy over the values to a new file).
- Consequently, removed delete save data button.
- Added button to disable flashing lights (currently only one effect).
- Reworked the main menu to support sub menus, and added instructions to the new settings tab.
- Added an ending cutscene. (Elaboration in the spoiler tab)
- Added a new boss. (Elaboration in the spoiler tab)
- Changed dialogue sound to hopefully be easier on the ears.
- Made splash texts more common.
Added the following splash texts:
- "THE FLAMES OF DISASTER!"
- "Now with 30% more spooky."
- "It came from outer space!"
- "Reach 1,000,000 gold!"
- "D80115"
- "Free for all ages."
- "Somehow made it this far."
[World Changes]
- Reworked how biomes are saved and generate in the world.
- Increased amount of fungus biome in each world.
- Added support for world presets.
- Some cutscenes will change to adhere to preset looks.
- Added Spooky world preset. (Elaboration in the spoiler tab)
- Widened the world from 120 tiles across to 140 tiles across.
- Added birch trees (20% chance to spawn instead of normal trees).
- Added clouds.
- Added mailbox in front of cave to give the player tips on how to progress.
- Added Fungus Colony feature, it is similar to a huge fungus, except the healing clouds are smaller and its residents will flee once you destroy it.
- Added Palm Trees that drop coconuts (with rare chance of golden coconut which breaks into a lot of gold).
- Pots of gold will now appear on the map if present in world.
- Huge Fungus's clouds will now be from 80-100% scale instead of 50-100%.
- Added new mini events that NPCs can get involved in with each other.
- Added Magic Sword.
- Rainbows will now be wider on average.
- Added Meteorites.
- Added Alien Flower.
- Added Alien.
- Added Alien Ore.
[Gameplay Changes]
- Reworked in-game UI to be more visually pleasing and easy to understand.
- Janna’s movement is now limited to the inner 139 tiles.
- Now when damage buff is >= 10, Janna’s fire will be blue and have a bigger area of attack.
- You can now upgrade more than one ability each day as long as you can afford it.
- Flying now starts at the normal 80% speed and accelerates slowly to 120% speed (Before the speed of flying was a flat rate of 80%).
- Flying should now feel better in general.
- Beating the Princess Bossfight will now give you a magnet which will increase gold pickup range.
- Map now appears above UI.
[SPOILERS]
Spooky Preset:
- A desolate world filled with creatures that want you dead.
- Spooky worlds are covered in a thick fog and darkness.
- Light pumpkins to see in the dark.
- Added new biome, the dead forest.
- Added Dead trees.
- Added Ghost Squirrels. They will spawn around the world and attack, they become more visible as they approach.
- Added Scarecrows. They will only move when outside your view, be careful not to get cornered.
Ending:
- To get the ending, you must start a new day with 1,000,000 gold in your inventory.
New Boss:
- Added Skeleton King Bossfight.
- His fight will occur once the player has 2500 gold in their inventory, and has no other cutscenes that could play.
- He has 3 attack phases, Summoning, Summoning Attack, and Attacking.
- Beating him will spawn the refinery, which you can insert gold into once per day and collect double its amount the next day.
During the fight, different presents will fall from the sky depending on which friends you have allowed to live with you (no presents will fall if not friends are present).
- Fawn: Will heal 20% of health.
- Philip: Will refill stamina bar.
- Princess: Will grant invincibility for a few seconds.
